Effective August 4, 2026

Privacy, in plain language.

Sage keeps your food log on your device, does not sell your data, does not show ads, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Information Sage processes

You may provide meal descriptions, food photos, nutrition-label photos, dietary preferences, height, weight, activity level, goals and other details you choose to tell Sage. Your log, profile, source photos, generated plate images, favourites and memories are stored locally on your device and may be included in your device backups.

AI processing

To answer a request, Sage securely sends the text, selected photos and relevant conversation or profile context needed for that request to our service and AI processors. Current processors may include Cloudflare, Google Gemini and OpenAI. They process this content to identify food, estimate nutrition, respond conversationally or generate a plate image. Their limited retention and security practices are governed by our service arrangements and their applicable data-processing terms.

Anonymous service identifier and usage

Sage creates a random Support ID in your iCloud Keychain. It is not your name, email address or Apple ID. Our service stores this identifier with the app version, credit balance and counts of AI actions so it can meter usage, prevent duplicate charges and limit abuse. Request content is passed to the AI processor and is not written to Sage’s credit database.

How we use information

We do not use this information for third-party advertising, data-broker sales or cross-app tracking.

Sharing

We share information only with processors needed to operate Sage, when you deliberately export or share it, or when law requires it. We do not receive your payment-card details from Apple.

Control and deletion

You can export your meal log or choose Delete all data in the profile screen to immediately remove the local log, photos, generated plates, profile, memories, favourites, reminders and widget data. Device backups are controlled separately through your Apple account.

To delete Sage’s server-side usage record, email sage@s5software.com with the Support ID shown in the profile screen. After verifying the request, we will delete the matching anonymous identifier, credit balance and usage counters. Sage has no user account to close.

Children

Sage is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided information, contact us so we can address it.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Sage changes. The effective date above will change when we do. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to sage@s5software.com.
